Simba SC forward Kibu Denis has expressed confidence that his side will be crowned CAF Confederation Cup champions at the end of their two-legged final against Moroccan giants RS Berkane.
The Msimbazi Reds are already in Morocco ahead of the first leg at the Stade Municipal de Berkane on Saturday. The return leg is set for Dar es Salaam, Tanzania on May 25.
“We are in the final, and our journey will not only end in the final, but we are going with the trophy [...] The CAF tournament is very different from the local games, so we are required to use our brains a lot to get something from it,” said Denis in Morocco.
“It will not be an easy game, I know it is a final, we want to pray that all the players stay fit, so we can be able to complete our mission. We started the journey some months back, and it is finally here, the final, and we will win it.”
On his part, defender Shomari Kapombe said: “It is a final, a final that we need to approach differently. We have done well to reach here, and we don’t want to stop here. We will have to fight for every ball, play together as a team, and see what happens.”
Kapombe’s sentiments were echoed by Simba captain Mohamed Hussein: “Up until now, our preparations have been top notch. We are here because of the final. We have wanted to play in the final for a very long time and now we are in the final, it is not far away,” said Hussein.
“We are happy with the training facilities, everything is in place, every player is determined to leave a mark for Simba. We have set a goal, we want to win the trophy, not only to play in the final, but to win the trophy. We all know that any final is always a huge game, and everyone here at Simba is looking forward to the final.”
Simba will be aiming to make history by winning their first-ever Confederation Cup title.
