Simba SC have warned RS Berkane that they will not be intimidated when they face off in the CAF Confederation Cup final.

The Tanzanian giants will travel for the first leg of the final of the inter-club competition set for Saturday, May 17, at the 10,000-seater capacity Stade Municipal de Berkane. The return leg is slated for Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam on Sunday, May 25.

Simba will use a chartered flight for the trip provided by the Tanzanian government, led by President Samia Suluhu. Speaking ahead of the team’s departure, the team’s Head of Information and Communications, Ahmed Ally, extended their gratitude to the government for providing a private charter flight to enable the team’s travel.

“With the private jet, we’ll fly directly from Dar es Salaam to Casablanca, and then proceed to Berkane. This kind of support brings stability and helps us prepare better for two of the biggest matches in African football,” said Ally, as quoted by Daily News.

Discussing the task ahead of them, he said: “We know our opponents are tough and have a strong record in this competition, but we are not intimidated. This final won’t be easy. We’re going to work hard, and we’re determined to make sure history doesn’t repeat itself like in 1993. This time, we want the trophy.”

Simba made history by reaching the final of the inter-club competition after a 1-0 aggregate win over South African side Stellenbosch FC. Simba secured a crucial 1-0 victory in the first leg at home before holding Stellenbosch to a 0-0 draw in the return leg in South Africa.
