Simba SC coach Fadlu Davids has welcomed the Caf Confederation Cup draw which pitted them against Al Masry but cautioned that it won’t be easy playing against the Egyptian side away in Cairo.

The Wekundu wa Msimbazi, landed the Egyptian outfit in the last sixteen of the competition, and having topped their group during the qualification campaign, they will play the first leg fixture away before hosting them at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in the return leg.

“We accept the draw because every team you play it is gonna be a tough team, they are currently doing well in the Egyptian league and it is gonna be a very tough game, especially when we go away from home, but we did our pre-season in Egypt and we are all prepared for the climate,” Davids told Pan-Africa Football.

“We also played some teams in Egypt during our stay there, and we know it won’t be easy like any other match in the quarter-finals, but we are ready for the match.”

Asked on the importance of Simba winning their group, the South African coach explained: “That was very important, the aspect to win the group, to be on top of the group, so you play away first and then you get to know the result and you know what to do, and what to expect, and what result you need at home to qualify, and with our fans in Dar es Salaam, it gives us the advantage of playing the second match at home.

“We know in this competition that once you get into this round, it is tough matches especially playing away from home, and we have to be really at our best in every second of the game to be able to qualify for the semi-finals.”

While Simba are currently sitting second on the Mainland Premier League table with 50 points from 19 matches, Al Masry are lying fourth in the Egyptian Premier League with 23 points from 14 matches.
