ZESCO United coach Emmanuel Siwale has revealed a cautious approach though with confidence as they prepare to face Jwaneng Galaxy of Botswana in the return leg of the CAF Confederation Cup preliminary round fixture at the Obed Itani Chilume Stadium on Saturday.
The Zambian Super League side holds an advantage going into the second leg following a thrilling 4-3 victory in the first leg at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola. Goals from Amine Hiver (brace), Kabaso Chongo, and Zachariah Chilongoshi secured the vital home win for the team.
Siwale expressed confidence in his team’s preparation ahead of the decisive encounter, noting that while the challenge will be tough, the team is ready to deliver.
“We know it won’t be an easy game. Jwaneng Galaxy are a good side and we respect them, but we have prepared well for this task. The boys understand what is at stake and are ready to give their best,” said Siwale.
ZESCO captain Lindo Mkhonta assured fans that the players are focused and determined to maintain their composure in Botswana.
“The mood in camp is positive. We are fully focused and aware of the importance of this game. We know the atmosphere will be intense, but football is played 11 versus 11, and we are ready to compete,” said Mkhonta.
The skipper further highlighted the power of the supporters, acknowledging the impact of their passion both home and away.
“When you are playing football on the pitch, it’s 11 versus 11. The good part about supporters is that when they sing and shout, they sing for everyone — even we, the players, hear them,” he explained.
Siwale took time to appreciate the loyal Zesco United supporters who have travelled to Botswana to rally behind the team.
