South Africa's CAF Confederation Cup representatives, Stellenbosch FC, have signed midfielder Thato Khiba, days after selling Jayden Adams to Mamelodi Sundowns.
The Western Cape Town-based team's CEO Rob Benadie has confirmed the recruitment of Khiba on a permanent transfer from fellow Betway Premiership side, TS Galaxy.
Benadie said the 28-year-old brings valuable experience to the squad after spending the last three-and-a-half seasons with Galaxy and Marumo Gallants.
He also featured in the CAF Confederation Cup during the 2022/23 campaign where he helped Gallants reach the semi-final of the continental tournament. “We are thrilled to welcome Thato to Stellenbosch FC,” Benadie said in a statement.
“He’s a player who fits our playing philosophy perfectly and brings versatility, quality, and leadership to the team. We are confident he can make a significant impact in the second half of this season, and in the seasons to come.”
Khiba will join familiar faces in Stellenbosch such as former teammates Lehlogonolo Mojela (TS Galaxy) and Ismaël Touré (Marumo Gallants).
Steve Barker’s Stellenbosch are strengthening their squad to compete strongly in the Confederation Cup quarterfinals and domestically.
