Zamalek SC overcame difficult circumstances to secure a crucial 2-1 victory over Al Masry in the CAF Confederation Cup group stage for the 2025–26 season.
The White Knights claimed all three points thanks to a late, decisive strike from Oday Dabbagh, a result that also sent Zamalek to the top of their group.
Zamalek took the lead in the 24th minute when Hossam Abdelmageed converted from the penalty spot. Al Masry responded just ten minutes later, as Salah Mohsen equalised from the penalty spot in the 34th minute.
The match remained evenly balanced until the 75th minute, when Oday Dabbagh fired a shot into the net to restore Zamalek’s advantage and seal a valuable win.
The White Knights were forced to play the closing stages of the match with ten men after Nabil Emad “Dunga” suffered an injury and was unable to continue, with the team having already used all five substitutions.
With this victory, Zamalek raised their tally to 8 points, moving to the top of Group D, while Al Masry remained on 7 points and dropped to second place. The two sides had previously played out a goalless draw in the third round of the group stage last Sunday at Borg El Arab Stadium in Alexandria.
