CAFCC: Zambia govt official boosts Kaizer Chiefs opponents

A government official in Zambia has given the country’s CAF Confederation Cup (CAFCC) representatives Zesco United a big push ahead of their meeting with Kaizer Chiefs next week on Sunday, January 25 2026.

The Group D game will take place at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola. Kick-off is 3:00pm.

In a statement, the Kitwe-based club has announced that Chingola Acting District Commissioner, Honorable Stephen Moonze, has joined the MTN Super League club’s call for more fans to patronize the match.

“Big shoutout to Chingola Acting District Commissioner, Honourable Stephen Moonze, for supporting Team ya Dziko by buying 50 tickets for the game! We are greatly honoured to have you,” reads part of the statement.

“Zesco United vs Kaizer Chiefs is a match for all Zambians. As Zesco, we are tasked with the responsibility to do it for mother Zambia and therefore, we do not take for granted the faith and trust that the football loving people of Zambia have placed in us to represent the country once again, on this rare elite African stage.”

Where are tickets for the Chiefs game available?

Tickets for the game are available at Zesco Customer Service Centres in Ndola, Luanshya, Kitwe, Chingola, Mufulira and Kalulushi.

A ticket at the VIP will cost R168 (200 Zambia kwacha) while a seat in the rest of the terraces is pegged at R25 or 30 Zambia kwacha).

The ABSA Cup champions anchor group D of the Confederation Cup without a point after losing 1-0 to leaders Zamalek and 3-2 to Al Marsy, both from Egypt.

The Zambians’ most immediate fixture before facing Chiefs is against Kabwe Warriors away at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium on Saturday.

The squad for the power men comprises internationals such as striker Kelvin Kampamba, who is the captain, and defenders Benedict Chipeshi and Shemmy Mayembe.

AmaKhosi will host the Zambians in the reverse fixture of the Confederation Cup on Sunday, February 1 at Moses Mabhida Stadium. This will be followed by yet another home match against Al Masry at New Peter Mokaba Stadium on Sunday, 8 February 8. The group stage concludes with a daunting trip to Egypt to face Zamalek SC on February 15.

The Glamour Boys are desperate for a win after a slow start to the campaign. Their journey began with a narrow 2-1 loss to Al Masry in Egypt, followed by a hard-fought 1-1 draw against Zamalek in Polokwane.

With a goal difference of minus-one, maximum points in Durban and Polokwane are now non-negotiable if they are to advance.
