CAFCC: ZESCO United gave FC 105 cheap goals – Siwale

Zambia’s ZESCO United assistant coach Emmanuel Siwale has reflected on their 2-0 loss to Gabonese hosts Football Canon 105 Libreville (FC 105) on Saturday.

Aboudou scored for the hosts in the 18th and 38th minutes of the CAF Confederation Cup preliminary round first leg match at Franceville Stadium.

In a post-match interview, Siwale admitted that his charges got punished for their inefficiency in front of goal against FC 105.

“This is a very bad result. We did not expect to go down like we did but football is very cruel. We could have carried the day but if you continue missing chances like that in this CAF competition, you will be punished,” he said.

ZESCO coach refuses to give up ahead of the return leg in Zambia

The ZESCO tactician refused to give up ahead of the return leg to be played in Zambia next week. He insisted that the power men have learnt their lessons and are ready to overturn the tables.

“This is football, if anything we have just played the first half and we have another half at home. At home, of course, we will have to do more because we just gave them the two goals. It is not an excuse but this is what happened. We have the second half and I know we can do well,” he added.

ZESCO travelled to West Africa with a strong squad comprising star players such as defenders Kabaso Chongo, Benedict Chepeshi, Lindo Mkonta, midfielders Kelvin Kampamba and strikers Alex Ngonga. However, the visitors paid the heavy price of poor finishing.

The Ndola-based club has a rich history in continental competitions after making nine appearances. Domestically, they boast nine Super League titles and 7 ABSA cups.
