Power Dynamos head coach Osward Mutapa praised his team’s attitude after they secured a 1-0 win against Rivers United to re-ignite their chances of reaching the knockout stages of the CAF Champions League on Sunday.
Kondwani Chiboni scored the winning goal for “the Aba Yellow” in the 50th minute, sending in a teasing cross that proved too difficult for the Rivers goalkeeper to deal with. He was assisted by Prince Mumba.

The result lifted Dynamos to four points, having managed only a draw in the first leg at home on January 24.
They now sit third in the group behind leaders Pyramids FC, who have 10 points and RS Berkane who have seven, while Rivers United remained bottom with one point.
“We knew it wasn’t going to be an easy game, but we were prepared to fight for victory. We controlled the game when we had the ball, but the last 15 minutes were more difficult. We are happy with the result,” said Mutapa after the game.
Mutapa added his side would have loved to get the three points at home during their first leg against Rivers United, because that would have brought the team closer to the two group leaders.
He described the outcome as “a very important victory,” and noted that sharper finishing remains a priority.
“We need to fight for more points as we face the remaining opponents. In football, you can’t rule out anything,” he said.
With two matches remaining in the group stage, Power Dynamos still have everything to play for. They host RS Berkane at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium on Saturday, February 7, before travelling to Egypt to face Pyramids FC a week later.
