Ghana Premier League champions, Gold Stars will look to fly the flag of Ghana aloft in next season’s CAF Champions League when they face Algeria’s Jeunesse Sportive de Kabylie in the preliminary round.
The Bibiani based club shrugged off competition from top sides, Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko to lift their first ever trophy – a feat that earned them a debut CAF Champions spot.
Head coach of Gold Stars, Frimpong Manso, has admitted that facing JS Kabylie (JSK) in the opening round of the 2025/26 CAF Champions League will be tough.
Speaking to Graphic Sports, the coach stated that his team must prepare well and fight to overcome the.
“Yes, it’s a very tough draw because JSK is a very strong side in the CAF Champions League. We need to plan and prepare very well.
“This is what we worked for by winning the league. Now we must prove that Gold Stars can also compete at this level,” Manso said.
Gold Stars have an advantage to test their squad in a high profile Top Four tournament before facing off with JSK in the CAF Champions League. They will participate in the 2025 GHALCA Top Four alongside FA Cup winners Asante Kotoko, Heart of Lions and Hearts of Oak.
