CAFCL: “JS Kabylie were quicker than GoldStars” – Adjetey

GoldStars midfielder Isaac Adjei Adjetey reflected on what caused their defeat against JS Kabylie in the preliminary round first leg of the 2025-26 CAF Champions League (CAFCL).

The Ghana champions suffered a 2-0 loss against the Algerian giants in the first round of the competition at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday, September 20.

After a swashbuckling Ghana Premier League campaign last term, the Miners had a day to forget in the capital, falling to the two time African champions much to the chagrin of the patchy supporters.

Isaac Adjetey said: “Our key players who function on the field of play could not get their rhythm so we had a little problem in scoring goals. That is the reason we could not score goals against JS Kabylie,” Isaac Adjetey told the media after the game.

Isaac Adjetey also admitted that JS Kabylie were quicker on the pitch and that destabilized their tactics.

“I think they were very quick, they are very quick and if you scan the pitch you don’t find them closer to you but within seconds, the close you down. It is one of the reason’s we could not stop them and their transition was also quick during the game,” he added.

The return leg will be played at the Hocine Ait Ahmed Stadium on September 28 with the winner of both legs progressing to face either East End Lions of Sierra Leone or US Monastir of Tunisia in the second preliminary round.
