First half goals from Nuno Santos and Peter Shalulile added to the lopsided aggregate score and confirmed what was merely a formality following Sundowns’ 5-1 first leg victory in Nigeria. Masandawana will now compete in the group stage of Africa’s top club competition for the tenth consecutive season.
Santos, acquired from Portuguese top flight side Vitรณria de Guimarรฃes, opened his account for the South African champions in the 21st minute when Shalulile dummied an Aubrey Modiba cross for Santos to fire in the finish.
Just before halftime, Shalulile added his own goal with a leaping header from a corner kick that went in off the post.
