Somali champions Mogadishu City Club issued an official apology to the government and people of Kenya after their CAF Champions League (CAFCL) first leg against Kenya Police in Nairobi on September 20. The FKF Premier League champions beat Mogadishu City 3-1.
During the encounter, some sections of Mogadishu City fans were seen disrespecting the Kenyan national flag, the club claimed. The Somali capital club stated that they strongly condemn this act and extend their apologies to the government and people of Kenya.
Mogadishu City also said they support any appropriate action to be taken by the authorities against those involved in the incidents. The club urged younger fans to respect the law.
Mogadishu City will be hoping to overturn their 3-1 defeat to Kenya Police in the second leg of the Champions League. Mogadishu City are using the Nyayo National Stadium in Nairobi as their home venue for the Champions League with the venue hosting both legs of the qualifying stage clash.
