CAFCL: Mutapa reveals Dynamos on a mission against RS Berkane

Zambia Super League champions Power Dynamos head coach Osward Mutapa believes his side is fully prepared and determined to deliver a strong performance in their CAF Champions League group stage opener against RS Berkane of Morocco.

Dynamos will start their campaign against the Moroccan side at the Municipal Stadium on Saturday. The Zambian champions have been drawn in Group A against Pyramids of Egypt, Rivers United of Nigeria, and Berkane.

Speaking ahead of the showdown, Mutapa acknowledged the competitiveness of the tournament, stressing the importance of securing early points.

‘Every point will matter for Dynamos’

“We expect a difficult match, similar to those in the qualification rounds, but we are on a mission,” said Mutapa. “The team is ready mentally and physically and starting the group stage with a win is crucial. Every point will matter.”

Mutapa noted the squad has shown commendable commitment during preparations and is eager to assert itself on the continental stage. Vice-Captain Salulani Phiri echoed the coach’s confidence.

“We know Berkane’s history, but we are equally motivated. We have prepared well, and we will fight for a positive result,” said Phiri.

Dynamos will be looking to make a strong statement as they kick off their group stage campaign. Dynamos’ next group stage game will be against Rivers United of Nigeria in January.
