Former Orlando Pirates defender Gora Ebrahim has called on the South African club to deploy a more offensive approach when they face Pyramids in the first leg semi-final clash of their CAF Champions League fixture at FNB Stadium on Saturday.
According to Ebrahim, the first leg will be crucial for the Buccaneers saying whatever the outcome from the game, will determine the outcome of the return leg away in Egypt.
“I feel that Pirates are in a good place right now. I believe they will go all the way in this competition because they have depth," noted Ebrahim, who also turned out for the likes of Rabali Blackpool and Dynamos, as quoted by Kickoff.com.
“You need to take full advantage of playing the first leg at home. It’s going to be tough, given the conditions both on and off the pitch. On Saturday, we need to avoid going all out on attack and letting the opposition score, only for them to sit back and defend.
“It will require caution, but at some point, they will need to take risks. Pirates will want to secure a lead of one or two goals. Their presence in the semi-finals indicates they can be a threat to any team. However, I believe the quality of Pirates should see them through.
“Ideally, a 1-0 win would be good; a 2-0 would be even better. Anything more than that would be great, but we must avoid conceding an early goal.”
The second-leg will take place in Cairo, Egypt, on Friday, April 25. The winner will progress to the finals where they will face either Mamelodi Sundowns or defending champions Al Ahly.
