Orlando Pirates head coach Jose Riveiro is not ready to discuss whether the South African Premier League club will go all the way and win the Caf Champions League title this season.

The Buccaneers have been in great form in the competition having managed to qualify for the knock out stages with a game to spare. They are currently leading their Group C with 11 points, one more than second placed and African champions Al Ahly.

Pirates have won three matches, drawn two and are yet to lose a game. In fact, they are the only unbeaten side in the group, which also has CR Belouizdad, and Stade s’Abidjan.

“Look, like I said before, it’s a day to feel happy for what it’s done. It’s unbelievable to be already with one game in hand in the quarter-finals,” Riveiro told the media as quoted by idiskitimes when asked about Pirates’ chances of winning the title. “We started with Al Ahly and CRB. Two fantastic teams, clubs and the way that we did it, it’s something to feel proud of.

“Now, we still have to play in Cairo one more game. We want to show a good picture of ourselves in that game even though we’re in quarterfinals. It’s an opportunity to be top of the table in the end of the group stage.

“And that’s the only thinking in our mind. The next game is go to Cairo, is perform, is still playing our football, it’s improve because having an opportunity to play against these teams it’s a luxury for us as a group because it’s pushing you to the limit when you have the opportunity to play continental football.

“The background that these games are going to leave in our players, in our group, is something you cannot pay, you cannot quantify. So, we want to enjoy until the last moment of the competition.”

Pirates will wind up their group fixtures against Al Ahly in Cairo on January 18.
