Kenya Police FC coach Etienne Ndayiragije has revealed their readiness heading into their CAF Champions League second preliminary round first leg fixture against Sudanese Premier League Sudan’s Al Hilal Omdurman at Ulinzi Complex Stadium on Sunday.
With Nyayo Stadium and Kasarani unavailable, Football Kenya Federation (FKF) confirmed on Thursday that the fixture will now be played at Ulinzi Complex behind closed doors.
Police, who are making their maiden appearance in the competition, reached the second round after surviving a scare against Somalia champions Mogadishu City Club. Police needed the away goals rule to qualify. They won the first leg 3-2 but suffered a shock 2-0 defeat in the return leg for a 3-3 aggregate result.
“So far, so good. We thank God that everything is going well, and we have no concerns at the moment. We are waiting for the squad that went for the World Cup qualifiers, so we can continue with what we have been doing, because we were with them before they went to the national team,” said Ndayiragije as quoted by Pulse Sports.
“The preparations have been great so far, and we have been trying to fix some things, and we are at a good place. It’s not all about our skills on the pitch, but we also want to strengthen our mentality.
“We are in a position where we can get good results.”
Apart from Police, Kenya’s Nairobi United will continue their journey in the Confederation Cup as they host Tunisian giants Étoile Sportive du Sahel in the first leg at the same venue.
