CAFCL: Power Dynamos have ambition to defeat ASEC – Osward Mutapa

Zambia Super League champions Power Dynamos have declared their readiness to take on Ivorian outfit Asec Mimosas in their CAF Champions League fixture at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola, on Saturday.

Speaking ahead of the first leg, first round preliminary fixture, coach Osward Mutapa assured Dynamos fans that they will be going for nothing less than a win on home soil since the team has prepared well for the encounter, and the players are ready to face Asec.

“We are ready to play for a win,” Mutapa told the media ahead of the game. “We have an ambition,” he added.

Dynamos ready to play and win

Dynamos have made a return to the table of African football’s elite, and their first match of this season’s premier continental competition is against the Ivoirians.

“Another important game for the team, the players and everyone involved with Power Dynamos,“ he said , “Our preparations have been going on well, so we are ready to play and play to win.”

Mutapa acknowledged the challenge that Asec will pose to his charges. Asec will come into this game on the back of three league wins and one defeat. On the other hand, Power have two wins and one draw in their opening three domestic matches.

This being a Champions League encounter, a first of the two-legged knockout affair, both teams know that the stakes are much higher than in domestic football.

“It will be a difficult game, but I think it is a self-motivating game. We acknowledge the experience of our opponents, but we have ambition. We have a team that is ready and ready to win.”

The return leg will be played on September 28, Sunday, at Felix Houphouet Boigny Stadium in Ivory Coast.
