Power Dynamos FC key player Ronel Manyanga has shared his thoughts on the Zambian giants’ dramatic peak in form in the CAF Champions’ League (CAFCL) Group A race.
The right-winger said this before a delegation of the MTN Super League kings jetted off to Egypt on Tuesday to conclude the group’s assignments against defending champions Pyramids FC on Saturday.
After previously going three games without a win, Dynamos bounced back to defeat Rivers United 1-0 in Nigeria and RSB Berkane 2-0 in Ndola in the last back-to-back games in the pool.
The improved results have since seen Osward Mutapa’s men revive their faltering bid for a Champions League quarterfinal place, although nothing is guaranteed at this stage.
Manyanga, scorer in the game against Berkane, has since given an update on their readiness for the away assignment against Pyramids.
“We are ready. We take each game as it comes. Obviously, we will give it our best,” he told the club’s media, adding that he was excited to have scored last weekend against Berkane.
“It is a great feeling. These are the things we dream about when we are young. All credit goes to the team. We gave it our best.”
Manyanga attributed earlier struggles to inexperience of playing in the Champions League.
“It comes down to nerves. Berkane were more experienced as you know, we have just gotten into this tournament. But after our nerves settled down, you could see that we were calm and we gave it our best. The fans should continue rallying behind us. Definitely, we will comeback with three points,” he said.
The Zambian champions arrived in Cairo on Wednesday morning for the assignment against the holders.
Third-positioned Dynamos have seven points at par with second-placed Berkane, both trail leaders and holders Pyramids FC by three points.
Rivers United anchor the table after losing all their five matches in the group. Finidi George’s side has since been eliminated from the race for a last-eight place. The Nigerians face Berkane on Saturday in a mere academic assignment.
