CAFCL: Power Dynamos confident ahead of Rivers United clash

Power Dynamos FC of Zambia are confident they can transfer their sound domestic form into the CAF Champions’ League (CAFCL) Group A game against Rivers United FC on Saturday.

The MTN Super League champions host the Nigerian Professional Football League counterparts at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.

In a statement, Power Dynamos media said they hope they can build on their recent rich vein of form.

“These results have given the team a big confidence boost ahead of the Rivers United match at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium,”reads the statement.

“However, Power Dynamos are still looking for their first win in the group stage after losing their first two matches.”

The Kitwe-based side tops the domestic log table with 35 points from 17 games, four points ahead of Red Arrows, who a have played two games less.

Power Dynamos’ form

The Kitwe side started the year with a 2-0 victory over Mutondo Stars at Arthur Davies Stadium on January 10 followed by a 1-0 result over Green Eagles 1-0 four days later. The fine run continued as they beat Mufulira Wanderers 1-0 on Saturday.

Therefore, the Zambian champions go into the Champions League game buoyed by a three-consecutive game winning streak. In contrast, the Champions League form of Osward Mutapa’s men iis not good.

Power Dynamos anchor the game without a win in two games. The Zambians lost 3-0 to hosts RS Berkane in Morocco on November 22. Seven days later, the going became even tougher for Mutapa’s side as they lost 1-0 to the reigning CAF Champions League winners, Pyramids FC.

Rivers United who, jetted off to Zambia on Wednesday, are also searching for their first win in the group.
