Pyramids winger Sodiq Awujoola has confidently warned Mamelodi Sundowns that they are more than prepared to take them on when the two sides face off in the return leg final of the CAF Champions League on Sunday.
After a 1-1 draw in the first leg final at Loftus Versfeld Stadium, the Egyptian outfit will host the Brazilians at 30 June Stadium in Cairo with the winner being crowned the champions of Africa, replacing Al Ahly of Egypt.
“This is a big club, you know, and the players here have a good mentality, so every day we train hard to achieve our goals – that's Pyramids for you, we don't sit back,” said Awujoola as quoted by SABC Sports.
“We are a big club, like I said before, so we don't fear to play as a big club, and we will play as we always play. The game is very hard [sic], it's a Champions League final, and it’s a very big game. We played very well in the first leg in South Africa, so hopefully tomorrow (Sunday), we are going to win and be champions, Inshallah.”
During the first leg, Sundowns had scored first through Lucas Ribeiro before Walid El Karti scored in added minutes of the stoppages to hand Pyramids the crucial away goal heading into the return leg.
