Pyramids FC coach Krunoslav Jurčić was so excited about his Egyptian team’s CAF Champions League title triumph over Mamelodi Sundowns on Sunday that he did not know what to say.

The Croatian tactician this to beIN SPORTS after beating South African champions Sundowns 2-1 on the night at 30 June Stadium in Cairo.

The Egyptian Premier League side lifted the maiden continental trophy 3-2 on the aggregate score. The first leg had ended one-all in Pretoria.

“I don't know what to say. We achieved the accomplishment and were able to win the African Championship, and we deserved it. In the end, this championship is a reward for all of us and for the work we have done," Jurčić said.

He then acknowledged the fans for turning up in large numbers to rally behind Pyramids.

"There were many fans who came behind the team. I asked the Egyptian fans to support us, and I thank them for coming and for giving us the energy that helped us win. We were all together," he added.

The website says Pyramids became the fourth Egyptian team to win the Champions League title, after Ismaily SC, Al Ahly SC, and Zamalek SC, and the fifth overall, after Arab Contractors SC, in continental competitions.

Pyramids also increased Egypt’s Champions League collection to nineteen Champions League titles. The previous holders Al Ahly were also from Egypt, winning the previous two editions.
