Captain of Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) side Rivers United, Temple Emekayi, has assured their supporters that they will bounce back to winning ways against RS Berkane.

The Pride of Rivers, the sole representative of the NPFL in all CAF competitions, will look to put behind them their defeat to Pyramids FC when they host the Moroccans at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo, on Friday.

This will be yet another major test for Rivers United, who are making their first appearance in the group stage of the competition.

Emekayi said it is important for his team to get maximum points from the game. “Although we would have been happier playing in front of our own fans in Port Harcourt, this is a situation beyond us and we just have to make the best of it.

It is incumbent on ourselves, the players, to rise from the defeat to Pyramids in Cairo and get a good result against RS Berkane on Friday. We will go in there and give our very best.”

RS Berkane won the CAF Confederation Cup last season and are currently rated as one of the best clubs in Africa.

The Moroccan club will be looking to make it two for two as the won their opening fixture 3-0 against Power Dynamos F.C of Zambia.
