CAF Champions League (CAFCL) group stage debutants Power Dynamos were no match for hosts RS Berkane, who rolled to a 3-0 home victory on Saturday in the opening matchday from Group A.

The visitors from Zambia never got comfortable at the Stade Municipal Berkane, where the hosts and reigning CAF Confederation Cup winners asserted their dominance early for an easy victory. The opening goal arrived in the 13th minute when a rapid attack created space for Youssef Mehri on the right wing, whose cross was sent into his own goal by Dynamos captain Aaron Katebe.

Barely past fifteen minutes, the visitors were down two goals. The RSB attack swarmed around the penalty area, with Haytam Manaout chasing the ball into the corner. The fullback cleverly maneuvered around a defender before crossing low to find Mounir Chouiar, who was wide open for a first-time finish.

The visitors continued to be spectators throughout the match with RSB relaxing a bit for the remainder of the first half. However, the Orange Boys added one more goal when Senegalese forward Paul Bassene converted a penalty kick in the 65th minute.

RSB will travel to Nigeria to face Rivers United while Power Dynamos will host reigning Champions League winners Pyramids FC on matchday 2 next weekend from Group A. Pyramids defeated Rivers United in the other Group A fixture from Saturday.
