CAFCL: Malawi’s Silver Strikers force a draw against Malagasy champions Elgeco Plus
Malawi’s Silver Strikers came from behind to hold Malagasy giants Elgeco Plus FC to a one-all draw in Mauritius in the
CAF Champions League (CAFCL) on Sunday.
Elgeco Plus FC scored first through Randriamanampisoa Tonny on the stroke of half time of the preliminary round first leg match at Cote d’Or National Complex.
The Lilongwe-based team needed a 54th minute strike from substitute Andrew Joseph to level matters. He had replaced forward Binwell Katinji before rescuing a point for the TNM Super League holders with the equaliser after making the most of Dan Sandukila’s cross.
Strikers will welcome the Malagasy champions in the
return leg on Saturday at Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe.
The overall winner of the two legs will eventually meet Tanzanian giants Young Africans in the next stage.
