Tanzanian Premier League giants Simba SC will miss the services of two key players when they return to CAF Champions League group stage action against Petro Atlético of Angola in the matchday one fixture at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium on Sunday, November 23.
The Msimbazi Reds have been drawn in Group D of the CAF competition alongside Petro Atlético, ES Tunis, and Stade Malien. Ahead of their group opener, Simba SC Media Officer Ahmed Ally has confirmed the absence of goalkeeper Moussa Camara and defender Abdulrazack Hamza owing to injuries.
“Sunday’s game we will miss Moussa Camara who is in Morocco for treatment alongside defender Abdulrazack Hamza, who is also travelling to Morocco for further treatment,” Ally told Pan-Africa Football.
Meanwhile, Ally confirmed Kenya national team Harambee Stars midfielder has recovered fully after featuring in a friendly against JKT Tanzania and will thus be available for the Champions League game.
“The good news is Mohamed (Bajaber) has recovered and even the friendly match against JKT Tanzania started and played 30 minutes,” added Ally. “He will be fit and available for selection.”
Ally further confirmed the arrival date of their opponents. He said: “Our opponents Petro Atletico will arrive in the country on November 19, and will be here until the day of the game. The referees for the game are from Congo Brazzaville.”
Ally added: “We are the only team in Tanzania playing in the fifth group stage of the African Champions League. This is something we are very proud of, and we always meet tough teams but we overcome them.
“And even this year we have been drawn against tough teams but we are confident of doing well to reach the quarterfinals.”
After the game against Petro, Simba’s matchday two will be against Stade Malien of Mali in Bamako on Friday, November 28. Tickets for the Petro fixture have been sold out.
