CAFCL: Simba SC will not underrate Gaborone United – Suleiman

Simba SC stand-in coach Hemed Suleiman has remained cautious heading into their return leg fixture of the CAF Champions League against Gaborone United of Botswana at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium on Sunday.

Despite carrying a 1-0 advantage from the first leg encounter, Suleiman, who took charge of the team for this game following the departure of coach Fadlu Davids to Raja Casablanca, is adamant the tie is still yet to be won.

“We still have our last training session that will give us the picture, who is going to start, but after our last training sessions, I strongly believe we have a good squad that is physically and mentally prepared for the game,” Suleiman told Pan-Africa Football.

“Of course we are not safe yet despite the first leg win, football is difficult, and you can’t write your opponents off. You can get a result anywhere you play, and we know that.”

He added: “We have previewed the last game, and tried to work out on a few mistakes that happened, but I still insist it won’t be an easy game, and we don’t want to take our opponents for granted. I have asked my players to stay focused and play with determination.”

Simba arranges an alternative for fans to watch game

With the game being played behind closed doors, Simba have arranged a lively alternative for fans in Dar es Salaam to watch the game. In partnership with club sponsor Mo Cola, a public viewing event will take place at Mwembe Yanga with a large screen and fan-focused activities.

“Mo Cola insisted that Simba fans shouldn’t just stay at home. There will be no entry fee, but fans must wear the new Simba jersey. Drinks will be available and we’ll also have entertainment before the match,” Simba Media officer Ahmed Ally said ahead of the game.

“There’ll be a very large screen. Our aim is for fans to clearly see Morice Abraham, to see Jonathan Sowah and to do that, you need a proper screen. Mo Cola and NMB Bank made it happen.”
