Former Kaizer Chiefs player Junior Khanye has ruled out any possibility of South African champions Mamelodi Sundowns reaching the final of the CAF Champions League following their 0-0 first leg draw against Al Ahly at Loftus Versfeld Stadium on Saturday.

According to Khanye, who apart from Chiefs, also played for Malanti Chiefs, Maritzburg United and Platinum Stars, Marcel Koller’s Al Ahly will use the home advantage to the maximum and will beat the Brazilians during the return leg to qualify.

“I have said it before they [Sundowns] are not going to win the Champions League,” said Khanye on iDiski TV. “This is the end of the road. They are going away and the team they are playing against is a different team.

“The Ahly that played in the group stage and this one are two different. Technically they are something else. You look at number11 [Nejc Gradisar] he has something special but can’t compare to number 22 [Emam Ashour] because 22 is something else.

“In front of his home crowd, I’m sure the coach though he will be cautious he will give him freedom to play and he’s going to want him to score. They are going to beat Sundowns away.”

The return leg is slated for Friday at Cairo International Stadium.
