The Algerian side exerted their dominance over the Ghanaian champions at the Accra Sports Stadium in the first leg of CAF’s premier inter-club competition on Saturday, September 20.
A goal in each half ensured that the Canaries return home for the reverse fixture with a huge advantage.
The German tactician, who once handled South African giants Orlando Pirates, opened up on the challenges against Gold Stars.
“It was a difficult game for us especially the field, our players are used to another field (and) it’s not easy, the weather is not easy to play,” Josef Zinnbauer told media men after the game.
“You can see in terms of the condition, in terms of ball possession but for us it’s important to complement the result of my team.
“It was a difficult game but we won and the result is important for us and I can say that we are excited right now.”
The former St Gallen manager has heaped praise on Gold Stars admitting that, the Bibiani-based club has a lot of quality players.
“A lot of talented players, very fast but you saw the game and they had all the chances but a little bit upset because we can score two or more goals easily.
“This is normally the result we can get and that makes me a little bit upset but football is points game and we needed the points and I think it’s ok for us but good opponent.”
The return leg will be played on September 26 in Kabylie with the winner of the two legs qualifying for the second round of the competition.
