CAFCL: Vipers SC name travelling squad minus Usama and Waiswa

Uganda Premier League champions Vipers SC have confirmed their travelling squad for the CAF Champions League preliminary round clash against Namibia’s African Stars, with new signing Usama Arafat Kizza and midfielder Moses Waiswa notable absentees.

The Venoms will take on African Stars in the first leg on Friday at Athlone Stadium, Cape Town. The team departed for South Africa last on Tuesday.

Leading the squad is last season’s league top scorer Allan Okello, joined by fresh recruits Kevin Dasylva Bady, Enock Ssebaggala, and Mark Yallah.

New signing Usama misses out

However, Usama, who joined Vipers in the recent window, has not been included, while fellow new boy Kenneth Kimera also misses out.

The winner over two legs will progress to face either Zambia’s Power Dynamos or Ivory Coast’s ASEC Mimosas in the second preliminary round. Vipers are hoping to replicate their 2022/23 feat when they eliminated TP Mazembe to reach the group stages.
