Young Africans of Tanzania have confirmed their readiness to face AS FAR of Morocco in their matchday one of the CAF Champions League at the New Aman Stadium in Zanzibar on Saturday.
Apart from facing the Moroccan side, the Citizens will also come up against African champions Al Ahly, and JS Kabylie from Algeria.
“Yanga will travel to Zanzibar on Tuesday for the Champions League match against FAR Rabat,” Media Officer Ally Kamwe told Pan-Africa Football when asked about their readiness for the fixture.
“The team will leave at 9 am by boat. Some players like Prince Dube, Celestine Ecua, Lassine Kouma who were still on duty with their national teams will not be on this trip.
“But the club management has already put all the procedures in place so that these players can travel and join the team in Zanzibar directly. The players who were with the Tanzania national team have returned and will be part of the trip.”
He added: “I ask Zanzibaris to come out in large numbers to receive the team and show our players how ready you are for this great historic game. They are going to meet the two best teams in Africa at the moment.”
On what they want to achieve from the group, Kamwe said: “We want to top the group and qualify for the quarterfinals. We know it is a tough group, but we are prepared to go all the way.”
Kamwe added: “Yanga vs AS FAR will be the biggest match ever played at the New Aman Complex. This is the most talked about game in Africa right now.
“Don’t compare this match to any other match that has ever been played at the Aman Complex. No one wants to be told about this game. Everyone wants to be at the New Aman Complex for this great historic game.”
After playing AS FAR, Yanga will next take on JS Kabylie away on Friday, November 28.
