Zimbabwe’s 2025 CAF Champions League (CAFCL) representatives Simba Bhora FC are leaving no stone unturned in their quest to reclaim glory.
The deposed Zimbabwe’s Castle Lager Premier Soccer League (PSL) champions Simba Bhora have a new man in charge Mandla Mpofu.
The experienced Zimbabwean has come to revive a team that was a pale imitation of its old self last season.
The Mashonaland-based team fell on its very first attempt in the CAF Champions League. They lost 4-2 on aggregate to Eswatini’s Nsingizini Hotspurs in the first qualifying round of the continental league.
This preseason, Simba Bhora have been without a coach for a month after being deserted by Joel Luphahla.
The former Zimbabwean international jumped ship, seeing the grass greener at FC Platinum.
Luphahla filled the FC Platinum vacuum created by the exit of Norman Mapeza who is now in charge of reigning champions Scottland FC.
Now, Simba Bhora have crossed the borders to snatch countryman Mandla Mpofu in Botswana.
The deposed Castle Lager PSL champions hope to tap from the experience of Ndlovu, whose last job was at Botswana FNB Premiership side Tafic FC. Simba Bhora were established in 2008.
The former Highlanders FC mentor is a huge figure in Botswana football having also managed Masitaoka, Sua Flamengoes and Nico United.
