CAFWCL: AS FAR down ASEC Mimosas for first-ever continental crown

Morocco’s AS FAR are the champions of the 2025 CAF Women’s Champions League (CAFWCL) after Friday’s 2-1 victory over Ivorian club ASEC Mimosas in the final.

Efficiency from the penalty spot was key for the club from Morocco’s capital, who won their first continental title in Egypt after a third place finish at the inaugural CAFWCL in 2023 before finishing as runners-up last year. Morocco women’s national team defender Zineb Redouani finished the match winner from the spot in 85th minute.

Earlier in the second half, Ami Diallo cancelled out a first half spot kick from Hanane Ait El Haj to level the match for ASEC. The Ivorian giants, who vanquished host club FC Masar in the semifinals and also took down last year’s champions TP Mazembe in the group stage, did not have quite enough to overcome one final obstacle.

Earlier on Friday, TP Mazembe overcame FC Masar 3-1 in the third place match to claim bronze. All four goals were scored in the first half, with Mazembe star Marlene Yav boosting her tournament total to five goals with a penalty kick and a header at the end of the first half.
