Moroccan champions AS FAR marched to a commanding 3-0 Group A victory on home soil over Senegal's Aigles de la Médina to complete the first day of matches at the 2024 CAF Women's Champions League. A first half double from 19-year-old rising talent Doha El Madani was followed by a penalty kick conversion in first half stoppage time from captain Aziza Rabbah to put the Royal Army club well beyond reach. AS FAR will clash with TP Mazembe in their next match on Tuesday while Les Aigles and UWC Ladies battle for their first points in the competition.

The Moroccan club have a strong record in Africa's top competition for women's club football and swiftly established their dominance. In the 8th minute the Senegalese club's defense was breached by a pass over the top to find Chaymaa Mortaji on the right flank. Les Aigles goalkeeper Khady Faye made an excellent save on the initial effort created by Mortaji's cross but was helpless to stop El Madani from scoring on the second attempt.

Les Aigles struggled to get into the AS FAR half and the Rabat club found a second goal soon after the half hour mark with an excellent goal. Sanaâ Mssoudy controlled a long pass flawlessly and then played a perfect pass with the outside of her foot to find the run of Safa Banouk who assisted El Madani for an easy finish into the open net. Initially ruled offside, a long VAR review confirmed the goal.

Just before halftime the third goal arrived courtesy of Rabbah, who sent Faye the wrong way with her penalty kick after Mortaji was tripped in the penalty area. The performance improved for Les Aigles after the half who showed more resilience in defense and a little more ambition moving forward despite going down to ten women due to a red card. Faye was the best performer for the Senegalese club and denied Rabbah on her second attempt from the penalty spot to end the match on a positive note for the debutants.
