The third matchday of the CAF Women’s Champions League (CAFWCL) qualifiers in the WAFU-B zone will determine the group winners.
In Group A, ASEC Mimosas and USFA are already guaranteed a spot in the semi-finals. Both teams sit on three points each after victories against AS Garde Nationale of Niger, who lost their two games and are eliminated. The clash between ASEC and USFA will therefore serve as a battle for first place, which could influence the choice of opponent in the knockout stage.
In Group B, Bayelsa Queens (6 points from two matches) have already secured qualification in commanding fashion. Asko of Togo, on the other hand, are out of contention after two straight defeats (0 points). The real battle is between Ghana’s Police Ladies and Benin’s Sam Nelly, who both have three points. The Ghanaians hold a slight advantage thanks to a better goal difference (+1 versus -1). Their head-to-head meeting will decide the second qualifying spot.
Thus, Matchday 3 will be crucial to finalize standings: a showdown for Group A supremacy between ASEC and USFA, and a “final” for survival in Group B between Police Ladies and Sam Nelly.
