Vincent Aboubakar has terminated his contract with Turkish side Hatayspor by mutual agreement. The development was anticipated by many following Hatayspor’s relegation from the Süper Lig. He last played for the club in a 3-2 defeat to Konyaspor on April 18.

The captain of the Indomitable Lions joined Hatayspor after parting ways with Beşiktaş. In his only season with the club, the 33-year-old striker scored 8 goals in 28 league appearances. Despite his efforts, he was unable to help the club avoid relegation to the second tier. Given the circumstances, Aboubakar was not expected to remain with the team and he ultimately chose to move on.

With the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) six months away, the Cameroon striker needs to find a new club. Aboubakar’s club career has faced setbacks since 2024, but he has remained clinical for his country in both AFCON and the 2026 FIFA World Cup African qualifiers, scoring twice in Cameroon's victory over Libya in late March. Aboubakar previously played for Porto, Al Nassr, and Lorient.
