Uganda Cranes head coach Paul Put has reportedly attracted strong interest from the Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT), according to emerging reports.

The Belgian tactician is said to be among the names under consideration should FECAFOOT decide to make changes within the Indomitable Lions’ technical setup. Rumors and reports have been active in Cameroonian media indicating a leadership crisis in the national team camp.

Put’s contract with Uganda is set to expire next month, and his potential availability could make him a convenient and experienced option for Cameroon as internal discussions over the team’s future direction continue behind the scenes.

A seasoned campaigner on the African continent, Put rose to prominence in 2013 when he guided Burkina Faso to the Africa Cup of Nations final, narrowly losing to Nigeria 1-0 thanks to Sunday Mba’s lone strike.

That remarkable run established his reputation as a tactically astute coach capable of assembling well-organized, competitive sides from limited resources.

Since then, he has taken charge of several national teams, including The Gambia, Kenya, Guinea, Congo, and currently Uganda, where he qualified the Cranes for the 2025 AFCON.

It remains unclear whether the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) has opened talks to extend his contract, especially with the Africa Cup of Nations set to kick off in December.
