Police FC suffered a major blow in the recently concluded January transfer window when their top scorer with six goals in the first round Isaac Ogwang departed for Uganda Premier League leaders Vipers SC.
In response, the Cops wasted no time in reinforcing their attack, securing South Sudan international Emmanuel Loki from KCCA FC and welcoming back experienced forward Umar Kasumba.
Kasumba, who has had professional stints with Zambian giants Zesco United and Kenyan sides Bandari and Sofapaka, is seen as a key figure in filling the gap left by Ogwang.
While he will face competition from other forwards like Ogweti Gerard, Herman Wasswa and Obedi Brian James, his familiarity with the club, vast experience and leadership qualities make him a crucial asset for coach Simon Peter Mugerwa’s squad.
Having previously featured in the Uganda Premier League with Police FC and SC Villa where he was a consistent goal scorer, Kasumba’s return offers hope for more firepower in the second round of the season.
His track record suggests that Police FC fans can expect a significant contribution from him. Kasumba has signed a one-and-a-half-year contract as Police FC looks to improve on their first-round performance, where they finished 10th with 18 points. They begin the second round with an away fixture against Lugazi FC on Wednesday, February 12, 2025.
