Namibian international midfielder Aprocius Petrus has officially signed with Sudanese powerhouse Al Hilal Omdurman, departing from Cape Town City FC.
Petrus, 26, spent a single season with the Citizens after his move from Kosovo Super League side KF Liria. He was a regular feature for the team before their relegation to the Motsepe Foundation Championship. Reports indicate the defensive midfielder has penned a four-year deal with Al Hilal.
Dankie, Petrus. The club would like to wish Aprocius Petrus the best of luck as he joins Al Hilal SC. Thank you for your contribution in the City shirt. Best of luck on your new journey,” said CT City in a statement on Monday.
Meanwhile, Al Hilal SC added: “From Cape Town to the greatest club. The 26-year-old Namibian warrior Aprocius Petrus joins Al-Hilal on a four-year deal to strengthen the heart of our midfield. The entire Al-Hilal family extends a warm welcome to him.”
Petrus’s departure is part of a significant exodus from Cape Town City FC following their relegation to the second-tier league of South African football. Long-serving club captain Thamsanqa Mkhize, who spent nine seasons with the club and helped secure two trophies, is among those who have moved on.
Thabo Nodada, one of the last remaining players from the Mpumalanga Black Aces era before the club’s sale and relocation, has also exited. Goalkeeper Darren Keet has secured a move to newly promoted Durban City FC. Other players who have left the club include Darwin González, Fortune Makaringe, Haashim Domingo, Elson Sithole, and Kamohelo Mokotjo.
Dankie, Petrus 💙
