The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has decided to reject a request for provisional urgent measures submitted by Egyptian club Pyramids FC to suspend the announcement of the champion of the current 2024–2025 Egyptian Nile League season.

The request aimed to delay the announcement until a final ruling is issued regarding the deduction of three points from Al Ahly SC at the end of the season, due to their absence from the Cairo derby against Zamalek in March.

The decision by the sports court to reject the request was based on the response sent by the Egyptian Professional Clubs Association, which stated that suspending the announcement would not affect the competition given that both Pyramids and Al Ahly have already qualified for the next edition of the CAF Champions League.

The court ruled that the case should proceed through its normal legal procedures until a final decision is made regarding the three points. The ruling will determine the legitimacy of either party’s request and will consequently lead to either confirming or changing the league champion.

Pyramids FC had submitted a complaint to CAS demanding that three points be deducted from Al Ahly for failing to attend the Cairo derby match. CAS has requested clarifications from Al Ahly, the Egyptian Professional Clubs Association, and the Egyptian Football Association on the matter before issuing its final decision.

The three points in question could prove decisive in determining the Egyptian League champion, as Al Ahly currently tops the table with a two-point lead over second-placed Pyramids, with only one matchday remaining. This means that if the gap remains the same, the court's decision will be crucial in deciding the identity of the 2024–2025 Egyptian League champion.
