The Council of Southern Africa Football Associations (COSAFA) and Council for East and Central Africa Football Associations (CECAFA) have agreed to back the sole candidate, Zambia Football Association president Andrew Kamanga, in his bid for the FIFA Council post.

COSAFA President Said Ali Said Athouman and his CECAFA counterpart Wallace Karia have released a statement confirming the joint decision to back Kamanga. CAF has five places available for its members to contest.

“That being the case, the two Zones have resolved to jointly support the election of the two candidates for the FIFA Council in a show of solidarity. COSAFA is made up of 14 CAF Member Associations and CECAFA has 11. Both Mr Kamanga and Mr Waberi have been declared eligible to stand by FIFA’s Review Committee," concluded Athouman in his statement.
