Head coach of Gold Stars, Desmond Frimpong Manso has set sight on producing another fine finish in the Champion-of-Champions against Asante Kotoko.
The league champions will host the FA Cup winners at the Duns Park on August 31 – a fixture that brings back memories from the GHALCA Top Four where Gold Stars beat Kotoko 2-1 and eventually won the competition.
Both clubs will use the encounter to fine tune their squad ahead of their various continental campaigns with Gold Stars paired against JS Kabylie of Algeria and Kotoko pitted against Nigeria’s Kwara United in the preliminary round of the CAF Champions League and the Confederation Cup respectively.
Frimpong Manso said: “It’s just a preparatory game for teams going to Africa. It’s not a challenge at all, we are going to do our best to prepare and go to Africa.” Frimpong Manso said.
Gold Stars attacker, Ronald Frimpong has expressed confidence ahead of the game.
“As league champions, we have intensified preparations for the Champion of Champions clash against Kotoko. It is a big game, but Gold Stars will carry the day,” Ronald Frimpong told the GFA Media.
Gold Stars lifted their first ever premier league last season before icing the cake with the GHALCA Top Four while Kotoko enriched their trophy cabinet with the FA Cup, the President’s Cup against Kaizer Chiefs at the Moses Mabhida Stadium.
