Champion-of-Champions: Kotoko coach Karim Zito plots revenge against Gold Stars

Ghana FA Cup winners, Asante Kotoko will eye a revenge against league champions Gold Stars when both clash in the Champion-of-Champions at the Duns Park in Bibiani on Sunday, August 31.

Both clubs are Ghana’s representatives in continental club competition with Gold Stars up against JS Kabylie in the Preliminary round of the CAF Champions League while Asante Kotoko slug it out against Nigeria’s Kwara United in the preliminary round of CAF Confederation Cup.

Gold Stars defied Hearts of Oak, Heart of Lions and Asante Kotoko to lift their first ever GHALCA Top 4 competition and Asante Kotoko head coach, Abdul Karim Zito is eying a revenge over that painful 2-1 loss they suffered.

“It will be a very difficult match. As you know, they also beat us during the Top Four. So, it will be a revenge. Revenge not on physical issues, revenge on the people that we also like to reward,” Zito said ahead of the Champion-of-Champions game.

“I’m very, very happy with this game because it will be in preparation for the Confederation Cup. And they also, the CAF Champions League, are going to play. So, it will be a nice game.”

Gold Stars go into the Africa competition with the Ghana Premier League and GHALCA Top 4 trophies while Asante Kotoko pride themselves in the FA Cup, the 2025 President’s Cup and the Toyota Cup they won against Kaizer Chiefs at the Moses Mabhida Stadium.
