Champions League: Osimhen strikes twice in Galatasaray victory

Galatasaray are in full gear in the UEFA Champions League after Victor Osimhen’s two goals gave the Turkish champions a 3-1 victory over Norwegian club Bodø/Glimt.

The hosts pounced early and often to take advantage of their well-known home advantage against their overwhelmed visitors.

It took less than three minutes for the Super Eagles striker to make his mark and open the scoring. Gabon national team midfielder Mario Lemina’s pass was perfect to find the Nigerian superstar, who finished with a smooth first-time shot.

Osimhen got a little help from the dismayed visitors for his second goal which arrived in the 33rd minute. Disorganized passing from Bodø/Glimt in the back led to a disastrous pass back to the goalkeeper where the goal poacher intercepted the pass. With only the goalkeeper to beat, Osimhen went around for an easy finish.

From that point on, Galatasaray had the result sealed up. Yunus Akgun added a third goal on the hour mark before Bodø/Glimt tallied a consolation goal in the final twenty minutes. After following a humiliating opening match defeat to Eintracht Frankfurt to begin the league phase, Galatasaray have followed up their massive upset of Liverpool with another victory to have six points from three matches.

The Turkish giants will return to domestic play on Sunday with a home match against Göztepe. Their return to continental action is on November 5 when they travel to face Ajax.
