Ghana head coach Mas Ud Didi Dramani remains confident of a good show against Nigeria when the two West African rivals meet in the final round of regional qualifying for the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifiers.

The Black Galaxies will first host their arch rivals from Nigeria on December 22 at the Accra Sports Stadium before the reverse fixture at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo on December 28.

The winner over two legs qualifies for the major tournament set to be hosted in the East African nations of Uganda, Tanzania and either Kenya or Rwanda in February.

Didi Dramani said: “In football, when you want to get to the top you should be ready to meet the top liners. For me, it was not surprising that we were meeting Nigeria."

“Whether you want it or not, you still will play against someone, and you should expect to play against a quality opponent. There is no doubt that Nigeria is a quality opponent, and Ghana is equally a quality opponent.” He told SuperSport Blitz.

“The future of this team is to just show domestically what we are made of and to sell out to these young players that they have the capabilities and qualities to also be in the senior national team,” he explained.

“The idea is to sell to them the true culture of what we are doing, the philosophy, and the style of play.” He added.

For the second successive year Ghana will clash with Nigeria in the playoff round for a place in the competition which has been rescheduled for next year. Ghana qualified over Nigeria after beating them on penalties two years ago to secure a spot in the last edition played in Algeria.
