CHAN 2024 schedule released: East Africa set for historic kick-off across three nations

The Confederation of African Football (CAF), in collaboration with the Local Organising Committees of host nations Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda, has officially unveiled the match schedule for the highly anticipated 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) that will take place in August.
The continental tournament will kick off on Saturday, 2 August with co-hosts Tanzania playing Burkina Faso at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam. The Group A clash is scheduled to begin at 20:00 local time (17:00 GMT).
On Sunday, 3 August, attention shifts to Kenya, where the Moi International Sports Centre in Kasarani will host a doubleheader. Kenya begin their campaign against the Democratic Republic of Congo at 15:00 local time (12:00 GMT). Later that evening, Morocco will take on Angola at Nyayo Stadium before action returns to Benjamin Mkapa Stadium as Madagascar faces Mauritania at 20:00 local time (17:00 GMT).
Uganda’s turn to ignite the tournament comes on Monday, 4 August in the capital Kampala, where the national team will square off against Algeria at 20:00 local time (17:00 GMT). Earlier in the day, Niger will take on Guinea at 17:00 local time (14:00 GMT) — both fixtures scheduled at the refurbished Mandela National Stadium.
The tournament will culminate with the third-place playoff set for Friday, 29 August in Kampala at 18:00 local time (15:00 GMT), followed by the Grand Final the next day, Saturday, 30 August, at Moi International Sports Centre, Nairobi, also kicking off at 18:00 local time (15:00 GMT).
With the spotlight on East Africa, the upcoming CHAN promises to be a unique celebration of local football talent, unity, and regional pride.
