CHAN: CAR have what it entails to deliver against Mauritania – Ngato

Central African Republic’s coach Sébastien Ngato believes they have what it takes to beat Mauritania in their second fixture of the 2024 TotalEnergies African Nations Championship (CHAN) at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium on Saturday.

The Group B fixture will pit two teams in search of their first win in the competition – with the winner standing a chance of getting a spot in the knockout stages. Central African Republic will be playing their second game against West African opponents, having lost their first game against Burkina Faso 4-2.

“This is our second match, while it’s the third for our opponent. If we don’t win, it will be game over for us. We’ve discussed with the players to find solutions and up our game,” said Ngato as quoted by CAFOnline.com.

Ngato’s sentiments were echoed by Ghislain Moguedi, who said: “We started well against Burkina Faso, but we lost. We made mistakes, and it’s crucial that we learn from them.”

He continued: “The coach has given us guidance, urging us to perform at our best, just as we did in our preparations. We, the players, are aware that winning this match is imperative after our first defeat. We’ll take to the pitch with a winning mentality, determined to secure a victory. Losing this second match is not an option.”
