CHAN: FIFA boss Infantino in Kenya for Morocco vs Madagascar final

FIFA President Gianni Infantino has arrived in the Kenyan capital Nairobi to attend the final of the 2024 Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) finals between Morocco and Madagascar at Kasarani Stadium on Saturday.

The world football governing body boss will be the chief guest as the eighth edition of the continental tournament that features domestic players only concludes in Nairobi.

“The Football Kenya Federation is honoured to welcome FIFA President Gianni Infantino, CAF President Dr Patrice Motsepe, and football leaders from across the continent to Nairobi for the CHAN 2024 final,” read a statement on FKF.

Kenya has proudly captured the hearts of Africa and the world with our successful hosting of this tournament, and today we stand tall as the continent unites in our capital city. Karibu Nairobi, Karibu Kenya — the home of the #CHAN2024 final.”

Speaking on the arrival of the FIFA boss, FKF President Hussein Mohammed said: “On behalf of the Kenyan football family, I warmly welcome FIFA President Gianni Infantino to Kenya for the first time, as we gear up for the #CHAN2024 final.

“Kenya has captured the hearts of the world with our successful hosting of this tournament – today we celebrate that achievement together.”

For the Atlas Lions, victory would confirm their dominance in the competition. For Madagascar, it would mark an extraordinary breakthrough as the first Southern African and island nation to lift the trophy.
