CHAN: Niger’s target is to secure first point against South Africa – Doulla

Without a win so far in Group C, Niger head coach Harouna Doulla has stressed the importance of registering their first point when they take on South Africa in their TotalEnergies African Nations Championship (CHAN) fixture at Nelson Mandela Stadium in Kampala on Friday.

Niger have suffered back-to-back defeats, having lost to Guinea 1-0 in the opener before a 2-0 defeat against hosts Uganda. Defeat against Bafana Bafana will automatically seal their exit from the CHAN.

“Tomorrow’s (Friday) game against South Africa will undoubtedly be a tough one for both teams. We are still looking for our first point in this competition, but we believe anything can happen. It will be difficult, but not impossible,” said Doulla as quoted by CAFOnline.com.

“Our immediate goal is to secure our first point, and we want to achieve that in this game.”

With four points from their opening two matches, Molefi Ntseki’s South Africa are a step away from the quarter-finals.
