CHAN: Nigeria captain seeks to end group stage with victory

Nigerian Home-based Super Eagles captain, Junior Nduka has declared that the team is determined to end their campaign at the 2024 African Nations Championship on a high note with a victory against Congo.

Eric Chelle’s side have already been eliminated from the competition, they suffered defeats in their first two Group C fixtures, falling 3-0 to Senegal and 2-0 to Sudan.

In a pre-match interview with CAFOnline.com, Nduka stressed the importance of the upcoming game. “We need a win for the country. We’ll give everything against Congo. The two defeats affected us, but we must bounce back.”

The West Africans are also yet to score in the tournament having let in five goals. Nigeria will take on Congo in their last group game at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium, Dar es Salaam on Tuesday.

A victory against Congo would not only provide a much-needed morale boost but also offer a small measure of solace to Nigerian football fans who have been left frustrated by the team’s performance.
